1. Description. This seminar examines the wide range of social science research on law-related issues and its influence on legal decision makers. Among the topics the seminar considers are jury selection, jury size, the administration of the death penalty, the death penalty's possible deterrent effect, the success or failure of programs for rehabilitating criminals, and the effects of segregated schools and of efforts to remedy segregation.
