We will base your grades on class attendance/participation and the quality of your research paper.

For the research paper, we expect you to produce an original, empirical study suitable for publication in a social science or law journal. At the first class session, we'll explain what we mean by "original" and "empirical."

Deadlines are as follows:

• November 17, 2010: one-page topic proposal
  

• March 9, 2011: first draft of paper

• April 20, 2011: second draft of paper
